Description of Seawater Desalination RO System
The reverse osmosis(RO) process is the core process of seawater desalination and is mainly used to treat the salt water with high TDS than 10000ppm. It consists of a High pressure pump followed by an Energy Recovery device and the Reverse Osmosis Membranes. In this process sea water is forced against semi-permeable membranes under pressure in a continuous flow condition. The high salt content of sea water requires that the operating pressure for Reverse Osmosis must be between 60-70 bar. As the water permeates through the membrane most of the dissolved impurities removed and 99.5% of the total salt is removed. The impurities are left behind in the flowing water and the concentrated stream from the membranes is discharged to the ocean.

It is mainly responsible for removing soluble salts, colloids, organic matter and microorganism in water. It can remove more than 97% of ions in water, and can also effectively remove TOC and endotoxin, with a TOC removal rate of 90%.
